Dear Mother

There is only one pretty child in the world, 

and every mother has it.

As I depart for China, Shanghai to be specific, I cannot be more grateful to my mother who is not only making this trip possible, but importantly is so very enthusiastic about my ideas and wishes. For this the Chinese proverb seems fitting for now.

 A little girl I was when I got my mother of pearl gemstone necklace, the joy of that moment then, fills me again when I hear those three words in that order. A different feeling of joy fills me when I now connect these three words with the fashion label: Mother of Pearl.  

Designer Maia Norman, once a hardcore surfer from Orange County, has transformed her (what once was a) beachwear line to a sporty, minimalistic (in shape) yet quirky in colour. 

The simpleness of design, with a plain colour (or not a colour of course, if it is black/white) is contrasted with a few items which bring prints and colour combinations. The collaboration with Keith Tyson, a British artist whose work is concerned with the physics of things, both philosophical and scientific, make the collection a fashion/art fusion. That being said, the fusion in a positive sense as the prints complement the other strongholds of the collection.
