The fact that we (the Dutch) have songs about our Xmas trees, justifies how important it is to have a xmas tree during this festive season. Christian or not, believing or not. The importance of this holiday season is to enjoy the love of family and friends, appreciating our roots and celebrating our current being.
The way we decorate our trees is just as competitive as the tidiness of our homes. Some of us are very inventive, others stick to the same yearly routine. Friends of mine who have just bought their first home this week probably have other things on their mind than getting a tree and decorating it. But even then, just for the sake of this festive season, I urge them to be inspired by the Dutch magazine VTwonen with their Out of the Box theme.
